Twitter Reflection

 

I joined Twitter August 2021. I have never wanted a Twitter account nor have I been a fan of sharing random thoughts and reposting other people's ideas. However, using it primarily for educational purposes, has been eye opening for me. Under the handle @LyonsTeachesK, I marked all 120 tweets with the hashtag #EDUC502, posted a link to my educational blog in my profile, followed 25+ people in a comparable teaching position, followed 25+ people in an educational leadership position, followed 5+ professional educational organizations, and actively participated in two education/leadership based Twitter chats.

Child Care Leave: How I Feel About Having A Baby And Being A Teacher

Guess what?!  I'M HAVING A BABY! 💙   This is my first child and like all things new in my life, I wanted control over it. Well, that's not how life happens. My husband and I planned (LOL) on getting pregnant in August so I could start maternity leave in April. In a perfect world, I would get my 12 weeks, then go right on Summer Break! It would have been super convenient!  There is no "right time" to have a baby - I know that. However, being a teacher, I wanted to make the transition for my students the easiest I could. I never planned on going on maternity leave ONE MONTH after school started. My poor Kindergarteners; just starting to adjust to a new school, new teacher, new friends, then BOOM! A change in routine; a change in teacher. I am ecstatic about having a baby (I've never had one before 😉) but I feel guilty for leaving my new class a month into school. I know, I know....
